Yes, I am a shameless "Sex and the City" fan. It's my chocolate, my guilty pleasure. Therefore their return, no, their move to the big screen to be exact, thrills me.There is something about the girls that attracts me ... and I hear you say freedom, glamour, wardrobe and hot sex =P~ but that's not it. It's their chemistry, not with their men, but with each other. Never have I found 4 women chatting around breakie, lunch, dinner tables so entertaining. Their conversations are so open, honest and most of all, witty. Each of them contributes to the discussion their own distinctive personality, the bold Samantha, the sweet Charlotte, the cynical Miranda and the down-to-earth Carrie. Every topic is explored in full and illustrated in different contexts. Words take on different meanings and sentences different interpretations. Life is seen through a kaleidoscope.
I was not so into the show's early episodes. Seasons 3 onwards get me hooked up as more of the girl's personalities were revealed and their character evolved. I love the last season, last episode, last line. Talking about lines, the best thing I found about SATC is Sarah Jessica Parker's voice and consistently one of the best moments in each episode was her monologue at the end. Who cares if Maxim voted her most unsexy, she's got personality, a sweet smile and an attractive voice. The way she delivers her lines makes the show's message much more relevant and approachable. One of the things I found so limited of Grey's Anatomy, of which episodes are structured similarly to SACT is Ellen Pompeo's voice. Somehow it is so dull, dry and unfriendly, it fails to draw me into the heart of the show. There's just no spark in her voice.
There's much speculation about what will happen in the movie. There will be wedding and pregnancy. I don't care. There can be anything and I'll still spend my $15. Because I know one thing for certain, that there'll be much talk around the table and and if one of the lines goes similar to this, my money will be well spent! Keep those pink Manhattan cocktails coming!
